Larian: Baldur's Gate 3 arrives on Xbox this year, no split screen on Series S

The gamescom in Cologne still reserves us nice surprises after the announcements of recent days: Larian Studios has just announced that, after a meeting with Phil Spencer held at gamescom, a decision has been reached that will allow Baldur's Gate 3 to be released on Xbox by the end of the year.

As already known, the problem of the postponement of the game on Xbox were the technical problems had with the split screen cooperative on Series S, and the studio could not release the game without this feature only on the S due to the obligation, required by Microsoft, for which all games must have the same gameplay features on both X and S.

During the meeting with Larian, Phil Spencer, however, agreed to make a break from the rule, allowing the game to be released on Xbox Series X complete with split screen co-op, while on Series S it will have all the features except this one. Larian also announced that the game will have cross-save between PC Steam and Xbox, a feature that will be missing on the PS5 version. This means that those who started the game on PC will be able to continue it on Xbox and vice versa, but they will obviously own it on both platforms.

This will allow the game to come out immediately, without waiting for Larian to find a solution to the problems on Series S, but for now a date is not known: we only know that it will arrive by the end of the year. However, we believe that Larian will prefer to distance itself from the release of Starfield so as not to be impacted by the Bethesda giant, so it is likely that Baldur's Gate 3 will not arrive before October or November. We will update you as soon as the official date is announced!
