Microsoft ceases cross-gen development: new titles are only for Series X|S

If you're one of those who were concerned that developing games for multiple generations would prevent developers from making the most of the latest hardware, here's good news for you.

The head of Xbox Game Studios, Matt Booty, said that Microsoft and its 23 studios (including Bethesda) have finally made the definitive transition to "Gen 9", or the current generation of consoles, confirming that none of the new games developed by these studios will support Xbox One.

However, this does not mean abandoning users of the older generation: titles that today support Xbox One, such as Sea of Thieves, Fallout 76 and Minecraft, will continue to be supported for a long time on older consoles. In addition, Xbox One owners will have the opportunity to play next-generation titles through Xbox Cloud Gaming.

This is a long-awaited and now also obvious news, but it is good to have an official confirmation!
