Phil Spencer confirms: CoD will remain cross-platform and will enter game pass along with Diablo

While regulators in the world's major nations are working to examine Microsoft's acquisition of Activision, gaming head Phil Spencer wanted to issue a statement of intent to reiterate how Microsoft will treat the franchises it will take over once the acquisition is complete.

The title of the statement, "gaming for everyone, everywhere" is already quite explanatory and reconfirms Microsoft's policy of not limiting its titles to a single device, but of greatly expanding its audience thanks to the cloud and support for mobile devices.

Specifically, Spencer reiterated once again that Call of Duty will continue to be released on PlayStation on the same day that it arrives on other platforms, following the same policy already adopted with Minecraft; at the same time the manager has also confirmed that the titles of the franchise will arrive in the Game Pass along with other popular Activision series such as Diablo and Overwatch. The latter we know that it will soon become free-to-play with Overwatch 2, but we imagine that some content will remain paid and these will be part of the Game Pass offer.

Ultimately nothing that was not known or that was not easy to hypothesize, but it is still good to have an official confirmation. Now we just have to wait for the finalization of the acquisition!
