Xbox: Updates coming for older controllers and to improve HDMI-CEC support

As we know, Microsoft is constantly working to improve the Xbox operating system and also the support for external devices, testing the news first in the Insider program and then releasing them to everyone. And just tonight two interesting news were released for the members of the Alpha Skip-Ahead Ring.

The first is an update for the Xbox One controllers (Xbox One Wireless Controller, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and Xbox Adaptive Controller)to equip them with some features so far reserved only for Xbox Series X|S controllers: specifically it is the Dynamic Latency Input, which reduces the latency times between our commands and the transposition of the same by games, making the gaming experience even more responsive, and support for the Bluetooth Low Energyprotocol, which involves considerable battery savings when we connect the controllers to Bluetooth devices such as smartphones and PCs.

But that's not all: this update for the old controllers also improves the multi-device management, aligning it with that of the new Xbox controllers and allowing it to connect to both an Xbox and a Bluetooth device at the same time, switching from one to the other with a double-click of the sync button.

The other novelty is instead the improvement of HDMI-CEC support, the function that allows our consoles to talk directly with the TVs (when enabled on both devices). Already today it was possible to make the console turn on / off the TV and switch to the correct channel, but with the new update it will be possible to control Xbox Series X|S (in the Dashboard or multimedia apps) using the remote control of the TV,thus making it unnecessary to use the controller when not playing or the purchase of an Xbox compatible multimedia remote control. In addition, pressing the Xbox button on the controller when the TV is on a different channel will instantly return you to the channel dedicated to the console.

For now, these news are only available to The Insiders of the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring, but they will soon arrive for everyone else: we will keep you informed.
