Rumor: Gotham Knights won't support Smart Delivery, will have separate SKUs like CoD

Last August Warner Bros. finally announced Gotham Knights, the new"Arkhamverse"title in development at Warner Bros. Montreal while Rocksteady is engaged to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League; the game is scheduled in 2021 for both Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, but today we find that it will probably not support Smart Delivery and will have two separateversions (SKUs)for old and new generation.

Amazon Italia has in fact opened today the pre-orders for the game, putting in pre-order both the Xbox One version at the price of 70.98 Euros, playable also on Series X but only in retrocompatibility, and that Xbox Series X at 74.90 Euros, which, judging by the provisional cover, will give access to both the native XSX version and the Xbox One version of the game, but with a slight surcharge.

Shoppers of the game will therefore have to pay attention to whatthey buy, because Xbox Series X owners could risk taking the Xbox One version, without optimizations; a similar confusion was created recently with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War,which followed the same release model with anXbox One edition of 74.98 Euros, playable on XSX in retrocompatibility as also indicated by a small writing on the cover, and the Xbox Series X edition of 79.99 Euros, which includes optimizations for the new console and also the old-gen version, but at a slightly higher price. In the case of CoD, there are also two separate versions of the game digitally, with Xbox Series X and S owners forced to purchase the Cross-Gen Bundle to get the right edition of the game.

Given that Gotham Knights is scheduled for next year, we wouldn't have expected such a policy from Warner Bros., which is sure to cause some consumer confusion because of the very similar covers between the two versions, as happened with the title Activision. To make everything simple and immediate, it would be enough to support Smart Delivery as many titles already do.

However, we hope that this is just a mistake and that Warner will soon deny it, confirming that the game will fully support Smart Delivery: we will keep you informed!
