DOOM Eternal sled in March 2020

Bethesda and id Software announced via Twitter that DOOM Eternal, a direct follow-up to the acclaimed DOOM,will no longer arrive as scheduled on November 22 but has been postponed until March 20, 2020.

Through the announcement, the development team explains some of the reasons for the postponement: the statement states that "during the development of DOOM Eternal, our goal was to create a game that was able to exceed your expectations across the board. To make sure we develop the best possible experience – so that DOOM Eternal lives up to our speed and cleanliness standards – we have made the decision to move the launch date by a few months until March 20, 2020. We understand that many fans will be disappointed by this delay, but we are convinced that DOOM Eternal will offer a gaming experience worth waiting for.

In addition to the news of the slip, the statement gives us some updates regarding the game that we report below:

  • Invasionmode, which will allow you to enter another player's game as a demon, will be released as a free update shortly after launch.
  • DOOM 64 will be available on Xbox One 4. We are adding DOOM 64 as a pre-order bonus for DOOM Eternal on all platforms so you can download and play this classic game for free by pre-ordering DOOM Eternal. DOOM 64 will be released on March 20, 2020 on all platforms.

If you're a DOOM fan, you'll need to be patient for a few more months before you can play DOOM Eternal; in the meantime, we'll be waiting for more news and updates on the game, so we'll keep you informed.
