New rumors about the future of Xbox: Project Rome and AMD Zen 2

Coming today interesting new rumor about Microsoft's future strategy with Xbox One and Project Scarlett , the future Consul scheduled for late 2020: the American journalist Brad Sams , collaborator of the site Thurrott.com and author of several scoop, has posted a video that sums up some of the rumor already emerged but dressed with unpublished information supplementing that received recently.

In the video, the first rumor back Sams that he himself had originated last month , which would arrive in spring of 2019 an Xbox One S with no disk drive, designed to further reduce the price of the console; the reporter explained that the new console will be tied to a particular Microsoft codenamed strategy of Project Rome , which provides the opportunity for users to buy the console on Microsoft Store including selecting subscriptions you want (such as Game Pass and Xbox Live), after which they would receive at home the console already pre-configured with your Live account (imagine that, if you do not have, it will be created automatically and linked to your Microsoft account used on the Store) and the subscriptions redeemed, ready to play. This is clearly a strategy with less " hardcore ", to minimize problems with the initial configuration of the console.

Passing instead to the long awaited Project Scarlett , new Xbox, Sams insists that is planned for 2020 and that according to his sources, will mount a CPU based on architecture AMD Zen 2 , which should arrive on PC next year, and it will also powered by technology from AMD's next-generation GPU . The reporter reveals that the console will aim to make the standard combination of 4 k resolution and frame rate of 60 fps , now quite rare on Xbox One X.

Sams explains that, during the next generation, the difference doesn't make as much hardware as the services: the new service xCloud will allow anyone using just a simple HDMI Chromecast style stick, to play with credits Project Scarlett without spending hundreds of Euros in hardware, although clearly the Visual quality will be lower because of streaming. Also the journalist States that, according to him, the cloud-based processing technology used in multiplayer Crackdown 3 will begin to be used more intensively in Xbox titles, and this could make a difference with the competition not equipped with such a cloud architecture.

How much of this will come true? It is still very early to tell, and probably the next E3 will not have that a mere hint of what will come afterwards in late 2020 and that will be revealed in full only at E3 that year. For now we just have to stay with the antennas in search of new rumor and rumors ... stay tuned!
