During the E3 4 Gears of War Director Rod Fergusson explained that the new Horde mode will be usable in all maps in the game instead of just those dedicated to that mode, as happened in the past. Fergusson said the game will be updated constantly with new maps, arriving to be 24 to the end of the first year of the game, and each of these will be playable in Horde mode.

How will work as in the past, with the ability to build fortifications and place defenses to repel enemy attacks, but this time the weather affect the gameplay: for example a particularly strong storm could wipe out some fortifications, but it could also give us an advantage against enemies.
