Assassin's Creed Unity: some interesting facts about Notre Dame Cathedral

Carolina Miousse , senior level artist of Assassin's Creed: Unity , showed up in a long post about Ubisoft Blog some interesting background information on the in-game creation of the Cathedral of Notre Dame , that we will be able to climb and explore in its entirety, both externally and within.

The Miousse explained that the reproduction of the immense Cathedral won't be perfect: although very similar to the real counterpart, developers were unable to reproduce perfectly the details because of copyright. " For example, when I look at the organ of Notre Dame, I think it's a masterpiece. " Carolina Miousse argues it is huge, beautiful ... and copyrighted. We couldn't reproduce it perfectly, but we tried to create a different version that brings the same feeling when you see the real version. We kept the overall look much like the real counterpart, but moving closer you realize that is not the same body that you would see at Notre Dame. "

There are also other differences also in the Cathedral of Paris, not necessarily due to legal reasons and as for the body, but for the sake of gameplay. The Cathedral played in Assassin's Creed: Unity has a Spire that is similar to the one it has today, because the original was made of wood and there is little information on how it was made.  Ubisoft has decided to play the modern Spire, although it is an anachronism. " The original was made of wood and, honestly, it would have been very attractive. " Miousse argues " I don't think the fans would enjoy it ". There are also internal modifications to the structure to facilitate the movements of the main character.

The fact that developers care much of the veracity of their work speaks volumes about how much effort they put into playing the Paris that we explore ourselves in a few days: on 13 November is just around the corner!
