Rumor: Criterion or Visceral at work on a spin-off of Battlefield?

In the last few hours are circulating on the net several rumors about the alleged development of a spin-off of Battlefield series to be part of a new development studio, as suggested by NeoGAF and Michael Pachter. Let's start with this: according to the well-known analyst with Wedbush Securities, Criterion Games seems the developer involved in the alleged project, analyzing the situation of the current production team: " SAYS is responsible for the development of Battlefield 4, but his two Stockholm and London are currently involved in the realization of Mirror's Edge 2 and Star Wars: Battlefront, outbound, probably over the fiscal years 2016 and 2017 ".

Pachter added: " In a conversation held last Thursday, the directors of Electronic Arts, although not announced any new title in the Battlefield series for fiscal year 2015, has defined our predictions based on the fact that if announced a new product for the next fiscal year, would be developed by a studio other than SAYS ". Pachter's prediction seems to be corroborated by the statements of a 3D Modeling Artist digital production agency Technicolor, who claimed to be working on a new title of the Battlefield series coming out in 2014.

NeoGAF has instead from his numerous clues that recognize Visceral Games as a natural prosecution or associated developer, SAYS the creation of a new Battlefield. First Visceral Games has already had to deal with the resulting End Game , the last DLC for Battlefield 3 , as indicated in the curriculum by Patrick Walker, technical animator of Visceral. Also taking the co-founder of Guerrilla Games Arjan Brussee, Project Lead Designer of Halo 4 Scott Warner and other staff for the production of a " next-generation shooter " are by no means negligible details. If we combine the participation of virtually the entire team Visceral to Battlefied 4 , as shown in the credits of the game, and the real test of firearms by members of the development team, the idea launched by NeoGAF cannot surely be regarded as pure fantasy.

Finally you should consider as Criterion Games, responsible for the development of Burnout series and Black before coming into production team Need for Speed , has suffered a significant reduction of staff from more than 60 to about 20 employees after the split which led to the birth of the studio Ghost Games UK. So it seems rather unlikely that a reduced staff so it can develop a title like Battlefield series. However it is a collaboration between the two software houses, with the experience of Criterion to project management and excellent technical abilities of Visceral demonstrated in recent years in the service of effective implementation. Keep checking back for more news.
