Respawn explains how to use the cloud in TitanFall

Respawn Entertainment has published an interesting article in which the developer Jon Shiring explains how TitanFall will use the new cloud infrastructure for Xbox. The article is worth a thorough read by anyone familiar with English, because it also explains the benefits for developers in the use of cloud than creating own dedicated server in the game.

In a nutshell, the main advantage of the cloud is to configure themselves based on the number of players present: If Respawn had to buy dedicated servers for the game, it would have to take to withstand greater load moments of the game, but would have ended up being largely unused in times of low load. The cloud instead creates and automatically discarding new "virtual servers" based on the number of players logged on, thus ensuring that there are always the right resources allocated at all times. Also the Microsoft's Cloud infrastructure can count on datacenter (basically palaces full of servers) geographically distributed worldwide, so that servers can be created in the network locations closer to the players.

But how will these servers Respawn? Shiring explains that the main use that we will do will be for the creation of dedicated servers, so that all the multiplayer can be created without the typical problems of hosting systems peer-2-peer used generally on Xbox 360. The developer explains that Microsoft's cloud is usable and callable from any platform, whereby this infrastructure will be used in the Xbox version One and in the Xbox 360 and PC game.

Shiring adds finally that Respawn doesn't want merely to use the cloud for dedicated servers, but that the development team has numerous ideas on how to leverage the Microsoft infrastructure to implement impossible things so far, but without going into detail. many of these things are, however, likely developments that will come after the release of the game, since the Shiring dev team will implement all sorts of new ideas " in the coming years ".

This is the gist of what explained: we invite you to read the article if the topic interests you particularly.
