VideoLAN announces the development of VLC player for Xbox One

VideoLAN, the organization responsible for the development of the popular PC Media Player VLC , announced in past hours that in May the player will switch to Windows 10 Universal Windows Platform technology. As you may recall, the UWP technology allows developers to create software that runs on PC or Xbox One, obviously with the necessary adaptations to the UI.

And developers have in fact explained the site WinBeta that while the new version of the player will be released initially only on PC, Xbox version is in the works that will probably come out in the summer, after the release of update Xbox One Windows 10 Anniversary which will introduce the universal app support and audio playback in the background, which we hope the app VLC will support.

VLC is a player that can play most media files as well as DVDs, audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. This app will offer a viable alternative to standard Xbox Media Player One: this ad is just a taste of the innovations that support the Universal Windows Platform will introduce the console Microsoft.
