Destiny: Bungie explains the 6-player Raid

In the Beta of Destiny we could try an Assault-type mission, designed specifically to provide players with a co-op experience 3. But this will not be the only type of missions designed exclusively for the cooperative: Bungie explained to IGN that it's something meant for players who have completed the campaign, then to a high level, and it will be a very different experience from the assaults.

First, unlike the other modes do not have raids matchmaking: you won't find strangers on Live and start playing, but we will have to form a group of friends willing to face 6 mission. In addition, the raids are longer than the Assaults: Let's talk about missions that can last up to two hours, so there is no need for a dedicated team with people eager to tackle a challenge without interruption for a long time.

Bungie has then explained that the Raid will take place in locations that could not otherwise be visited: it is inaccessible places during the campaign, exploration or other ways, and we want to do things that have never been asked before by a FPS ". They will not however present navigation points or indications during the mission, because every Raid will have a clearly defined purpose that players must try to accomplish in the way they deem best, and most likely will have to repeat it several times before you succeed.

Bungie's Luke Smith explains that it's extremely difficult missions designed to test players, who must play several times before arriving at the bottom, and while they will continue to grow their characters. In these missions will be enormous and incredible bosses, much more powerful than those encountered in the assaults, and have unique abilities never seen. For players will be a real challenge: once you get to the boss and his abilities and weaknesses, probably in order to beat it must grow their own characters and recover the weapons better suited for the purpose.

In short, it seems that the raids are what Bungie has in store for more hardcore gamers: creation of a dedicated team made up of people who know each other and make tight teamwork, high level of challenge, new and unseen enemies, and of course great rewards. Are you ready to accept the challenge? We'll see by September 9.
