FIFA next-gen 14: some impressions from E3

During the E3 I got to see the opera, although unable to try because of the long lines and the limited time available, FIFA 14 next-gen version, powered by the new EA Sports engine Ignite that supports only PS4 and Xbox One. Specifically, the game ran on the new Microsoft : here are some quick impression on that visa.

The development of the game, considering that the new console will come about two months after the current-gen version of the title, was at a less advanced stage than the 360 and PS3 version: it speaks of a progress arrived at about 50% versus almost 70% of the others. As regards the playability we will tell you about it later, perhaps after the Gamescom in Cologne, where we hope to be able to try.

Focusing instead on the graphics engine of the next-gen version, the generational leap there but is perhaps more the outline that the game itself: with this I do not mean to say that visually is equal to the current console version, simply already in the previous chapters the polygon models were very good and therefore the largest news concern above all other issues anyway. For the first time we will have more a "cardboard" audience: viewers were replaced by 2D polygon models, this way the feeling of a real stage is much greater. Same thing goes for polygonal models to the sideline, then coaches sbracciarsi to give directions to the rectangle of the game players or the fourth man do a little stretching. Always in the direction of Visual realism, EA has improved the representation of turf, now more dense and less flat. Another gem, but more significant in the replay that game is the animation of uniforms: see for example the shorts move and bend during dynamic phases of the game and stand still when the player does not move, seeing them so changeable and non-static is a further step towards a more realistic representation of footballers. The animations seems to work good: already in this version everything smooth row and in a natural way and the scene of a game more fluid, with new animations and new touches, seem to be maintained but we reserve the right to investigate the matter after a longer test given the few minutes had available in Los Angeles.

Surely FIFA is not the game for you to buy a next-gen console, fire meat however appears to be and thanks to the new engine will be a different experience than the Xbox 360 version ; for those who so wish to make the generational jump and was a football fan, could definitely be a purchase you should keep in mind. Among the new features, in addition to the renewed Fund chart, there is talk of an improved artificial intelligence, now every player should be characterized better and have more choice about what to do including new animations to avoid the opponent's contrasts. Other small novelty concerns kicks corner. Thanks to the increased power of the new console you will see more realistic actions: while in the past only one player per team attempted the header, now we will see more players try the postponement or goal in order to better simulate the effect blends that always creates in real matches in the corner.

I refer you to the end of August, after Cologne, in the hope that on that occasion we will be able to make a more complete test on the next-gen version of the game.
