New leaked details on Star Wars: First Assault, downloadable FPS from fate uncertain

Last October we reported a rumor that LucasArts would project a new game for digital delivery (then Live Arcade and PSN) dedicated to the world of Star Wars titled Star Wars: First Assault. Today, thanks to a portal source Kotaku have emerged new details about the game and the first two pictures, as well as more information about the much anticipated Star Wars Battlefront 3 and Star Wars 1313 , though not all are reassuring.

According to the source, Star Wars: First Assault is a FPS that will support online matches from 16 players (8 per team) in which Rebel and Imperial impersoneranno in famous battles on planets like Tatooine or Bespin. The most interesting detail though is the following: Star Wars: First Assault would be the "first step" towards Star Wars Battlefront 3, the latter's output could be heavily influenced by the sales of this title.

Earlier rumor claimed that Star Wars Battlefront 3 was ready at 99% before LucasArts decided to delete it, however if you decide to resume the project this will be done over again starting with the codes for Star Wars: First Assault, without using any of the previously created material. Developers have already created with code which you can use as the TIE Fighter or the AT-ST walker, even if these are not present in the Arcade game, which will remain solely a FPS " Call Of Duty style ".

However, the source also revealed some details definitely worrying for the future of all titles from Star Wars: last September, after Disney bought the rights to the trademark, LucasArts halted all recruitment of new staff to develop video games, Star Wars: First Assault originally was to have a phase of closed beta in September before being released on the Marketplace in spring.

From September onwards so developers have continued to work on the game without knowing if this actually will be released or not, because the new Disney executives still yet decided the future of Star Wars video games.

This delicate situation unfortunately also concerns Star Wars 1313 , promising title of which there have been more news for several months, and whose release is also uncertain now.

The move to Disney so far has brought great havoc among Star Wars fans, after the decision to cancel the production of 3D remake of the remaining film of the saga (only " the phantom menace " was able to arrive in theaters), just yesterday it was announced that the TV series " The Clone Wars " will be stopped.

It only remains to hope that even Star Wars 1313 does not face the same fate, and that the franchise continues to thrive to be dreaming of millions of fans, and if you ever Star Wars: First Assault managed to see the light can be really the balance that will mark the future of the games tied to the Star Wars universe.
