The English site CVG has received from an informer inside Ubisoft news that the next Assassin's Creed (which probably will be called simply Assassin's Creed III ) will be set during the American Revolutionary War, also known as the American Revolution, and that the title will be announced officially by the end of March. If this proved true would lead the "historical" closer to the present day, in the second half of 1700 and during the struggle for the Constitution of the United States of America, in an era already dominated by firearms as mortars and cannons, muskets.

Ubisoft has made it clear already in the past that the next Assassin's Creed would be the largest in the series, and we can probably expect numerous innovations both in terms of story that the gameplay: while the last two episodes were made of "appendices" Assassin's Creed 2 while improving and expanding greatly the mechanics, the next game should instead represent a turning point andlikely the beginning of a new trilogy. We have to wait for official word that, according to the rumor in question, should arrive in the next two months.
