Project Helix: news on the new generation of Xbox in a week

Microsoft today announced the Game Dev Update, an event dedicated to Xbox developers that will be held on May 7th. The event is designed to directly update development teams on the work done internally at Xbox and to provide technical details useful for the creation of future titles.

Although the focus is clearly oriented towards developers and understanding how these changes will impact their daily work, the appointment will also be interesting for simple enthusiasts thanks to the news on next-generation hardware.

During the presentation, next gen vice president Jason Ronald and general manager of programs and portfolio Chris Charla will in fact offer an in-depth look at Project Helix, the hardware whose first partial reveal took place in March during GDC. The Redmond company has anticipated that the new generation system is powered by a custom-made AMD SoC (System on a Chip) and has been designed hand in hand with future DirectX libraries. Microsoft will roll out alpha versions of the dev kits to developers starting in 2027. The goal of Project Helix, as pointed out by the company, is to ensure greater efficiency in the iteration phase of game development, provide superior performance and improve developer workflows.

We just have to wait for next Thursday to find out if interesting news will be revealed for us players!
