Rumor: Grand Theft Auto VI will not have a physical edition at launch
We haven't had any updates on the game for some time, apart from some details that emerged from recent legal battles that hinted at 32-player online lobbying and layoffs caused by sharing confidential material with influencers. And it seems that the fear of new, disastrous leaks (both in terms of gameplay and plot) is the basis of Take-Two's new distribution strategy. According to the insider Graczdari, considered very reliable thanks to several advances that later turned out to be correct, the developers would have decided to skip the physical distribution on Day One to prevent someone from taking possession of the game's discs during distribution, and then leak the information before launch.
A source who manages retail game sales in Europe has in fact revealed that, at least initially, we will only be able to buy the game through the digital stores of our consoles . As for the arrival of a physical edition in stores, the reports are still conflicting. Some rumors suggest that we will only have to wait three or four weeks from launch, while other, decidedly more pessimistic hypotheses indicate that we may not see a boxed edition before 2027.
Fortunately, it seems that we won't have to wait long to get a clearer picture of the situation, since, apparently, further clarifications regarding the game's launch plans should arrive in mid-February. Keep following us to find out more!
