In last night's TGA pre-show, Xbox Games Studios director Matt Booty revealed that the Xbox Developer_Direct showcase will officially return in January 2026, although he explained that there will be "too much stuff to fit into one show", hinting that the year 2026 will be a record-breaking year for Xbox first-party releases.

Booty confirmed that Playground Games (currently working on Fable and Forza Horizon 6) will be present at the event, but also specified that the news coming next year will be so many that they cannot be contained in a single Developer_Direct in January. This is undoubtedly an excellent signal for the brand.

Speaking about Xbox's 25th anniversary, Booty once again emphasized how 2026 will be a great year. He also mentioned Halo: Campaign Evolved, and teased that there will be plenty more surprises to come that will be revealed soon. According to the executive, it will be an "exceptional year for the brand and an exceptional year for some of our most important franchises" globally.

While waiting to know the exact date for the Xbox Developer_Direct January, the statements suggest that it will potentially be one of the best editions of the Xbox show at the beginning of the year!
