Keeper: Double Fine's fascinating adventure shows itself in long gameplay and new visuals
Keeper presents itself as a narrative adventure without dialogue, in which learning will be based solely on experience and intuition. In the game we will play the role of a walking Lighthouse, accompanied by a bird named Twig who will help us overcome obstacles. Following an accident caused by a purple swarm called "The Wither", we will progressively discover our abilities, first learning to walk awkwardly, and then master running and use our beam of light to interact with the world around us.
As shown by the new screenshots and gameplay excerpts shown in the latest Official Xbox Podcast, each area of the game will offer a unique artistic direction, in an alternation of landscapes that look like paintings and bizarre creatures. The gameplay will be entirely based on exploration and puzzle-solving, without combat or the possibility of dying. The use of our beam of light will allow us to grow plants, activate mechanisms or repel certain threats, while our companion Twig will be able to manipulate different objects, with a view to full cooperation.
Later in the adventure, the experience will be enriched by puzzles with a temporal background: thanks to statues we will be able to travel between past, present and future. This will not only change the environment, but also Twig's own form, which can transform into a huge egg or a completely new entity. These mechanics had been anticipated by Tim Schafer himself during the presentation of the game at gamescom.
To get our hands on this fascinating adventure we won't have to wait long: Keeper will arrive on October 17, included in the Game Pass.
