2K reveals what's new in NBA 2K26

2K today unveiled the latest news coming with NBA 2K26: the stated goal is to further reduce the boundary between reality and the gaming experience, offering an immersion never seen before thanks to a series of graphic and atmospheric improvements.

The commitment of the development team is focused on making us live the experience of really being in the arena of our favorite team. Everything from the visual fidelity of the players to the atmosphere of the arenas, the technical commentary and the spectacle typical of NBA games, has been enhanced to achieve a new level of realism.

The improvements made to the visual fidelity of the athletes will be immediately evident, thanks to the introduction of a new shader for the skin that enhances its shades. This technology will make every detail more vivid, from the curvature of the embroidered names on the jerseys to the stitching, to a more accentuated muscle definition after a powerful dunk. The lighting in the arenas has also been completely redesigned to improve intensity and colour correction, with new parquet-specific lights that accentuate the realism and gloss of the parquet, even highlighting the grain of the wood.

The atmosphere inside the arenas will be made even more authentic. The audience will be much more diverse, with twice as many unique characters and a wider range of body types, faces, and ages to best represent NBA fans. We'll see fans in the stands waving towels, using foam fingers, and even rubber chickens to show their cheering at crucial moments. In addition, in some arenas, fans will wear LED wristbands that will create light effects during presentations and highlights. The authenticity will extend to the pre-match rituals, light shows in team colors, and even the light haze that envelops the pitch after the fireworks.

There is also news regarding the technical commentary, with the entry into the booth of Tim Legler, who will join veterans such as Kevin Harlan and Greg Anthony. As the match enters the final stages and the score hangs in the balance, the tone of the commentators will change to reflect the intensity of the moment. Finally, we will experience the most significant moments of the league, such as the NBA Cup and the presentation of the seasonal trophies, from MVP to Rookie of the Year, which will take place during the first home game after the assignment. As we win titles, we'll see championship banners hoisted on the ceiling beams, dynamically updating to celebrate our legacy in NBA history.

We remind you that NBA 2K26 is expected for September 5 and we leave you with two images showing the graphic differences between the new game and last year's edition.
