Resident Evil Requiem will be in both first and third person, new details and images
Among other confirmed details, we discover that the game will see us return to Raccoon City, but with a completely new protagonist: we will in fact play the role of Grace Ashcroft, a technical analyst of the FBI. Her investigation into a series of murders will lead her to confront the past of her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, a name that longtime fans will recognize as that of the journalist protagonist of Resident Evil Outbreak. A choice that winks at the lore of the series and that will undoubtedly please historical fans. Grace is not a soldier armed to the teeth, but a person unprepared for war: we will therefore have to think, explore and, above all, survive.
Apparently, however, Grace will not be the only playable character: even if journalists have not been able to see it, Capcom has anticipated that throughout the story it will also be possible to play as a "historical character with a large arsenal"; many think, also given the clues left in the announcement trailer, that it will be Leon Kennedy.
Capcom describes Resident Evil Requiem as pure survival horror, albeit infused with high-tension cinematic action. The gameplay will be based on stealth mechanics, dynamic enemy artificial intelligence and photorealistic graphics guaranteed by the RE Engine. The journalists who attended the presentation of over 20 minutes spoke of an extremely refined title, and this is not a surprise, given that the launch of February 27 is not very far away (for example, it will certainly be released before expected titles such as Fable and GTA VI). Journalists explain that the fluidity of the cutscenes makes it difficult to distinguish them from a live action movie, proving the great quality of Capcom's graphics engine.
But the most striking aspect of the previews was the survival horror atmosphere that Grace will face at every step. The tension will be palpable as we sneak around every corner and walk through narrow, dark corridors that are so dark that they feel like we're being swallowed up by an abyss. Capcom seems intent on scaring us immediately and frequently, focusing everything on tension, exploration and fear.
In short, the new Resident Evil Requiem already promises to be a must-have title for lovers of the Capcom saga, and soon we will see even more, as the Japanese publisher has announced that a playable demo will be available to visitors to gamescom 2025, from 20 to 25 August; Surely, on that occasion or even before, the gameplay of the game will be revealed.
