Retro Classics: Microsoft brings over 50 old Activision classics to Game Pass

Microsoft today announced and released Retro Classics, a welcome novelty for all Xbox Game Pass subscribers: a collection of Activision classic titles that brings some of the most beloved games from the 80s and 90s to our consoles. This initiative, the result of the collaboration between Xbox and Antstream Arcade, aims to preserve the gaming heritage and make it accessible on modern platforms.

Starting today, Game Pass members will be able to dive into a library of over 50 classic Activision games, including gems such as Commando, Grand Prix, Kaboom!, Mech Warrior 2: 31st Century Combat and the unforgettable Pitfall!. Xbox's stated goal is to continue to expand this offering, emphasizing its commitment to video game preservation and backward compatibility, thus allowing players to rediscover these timeless titles on current devices.

The Retro Classics experience is designed to be fully integrated into the Xbox ecosystem, being accessible on consoles, PCs, and via cloud gaming on supported devices. This means that you will be able to play on Xbox consoles, through the Xbox app on PC, or streaming on compatible LG and Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV devices and Meta Quest headsets. To access Retro Classics, simply search for and install the game on the Microsoft Store.

In addition to the wide selection of games, Retro Classics also introduces unique challenges to test your skills against friends, rivals or the entire online community. For achievement hunters, new achievements will be available to unlock. In addition, a particularly appreciated and unprecedented feature for many of these classics will be the ability to save and reload your progress, making the experience more accessible even to new players.

We leave you with a trailer and a series of images.
