The Medium: Bloober Team Reveals New Information about Xbox Series X Launch Exclusive

One of the most fascinating titles of May's Inside Xbox event was The Medium,Bloober Team's new horror title(Blair Witch, >observer_, Layers of Fear)coming to the xbox Series X launch and promising to make the most of the console's fast SSD allowing us to instantly travel between two worlds. Today the developers have released a number of new information about the game: here are the summarized below.

The developers explain that Marianne, the protagonist medium of the story, is obsessed with the vision of the murder of a child, and will try to shed light on this vision by exploring the two worlds to which she has access thanks to her powers. Bloober explains that, in order to achieve this, he is not creating a single world but two:our reality and its reflection in the realm of spirits. As the protagonist, we can move between the two worlds whenever we want and without interruption, uploading or impacting performance and graphics, all thanks to the power of Xbox Series X.

All the puzzles in the game, the developers explain, are built around the two worlds and how they are able to interact with each other. For example, if we take action in one world this will have an impact in the other, and this will serve us to overcome many obstacles and encounters with monsters.

As for the settings, the game will initially be set in the woods, in a tourist structure closed and abandoned following a terrible tragedy; This location is inspired by the hotels where the team grew up in the city of Krakow, Poland. But this, the Bloober boys explain, is just the beginning because we will then see other settings that do not want to anticipate us.

Coming instead to gameplay and storytelling,Bloober explains that The Medium is completely different from Layers of Fear and >observer_; The first-person view disappears, in favor of fixed-camera shots inspired by old-school horror games. This is because the intention is to make the game more like a movie and the developers cite Silent Hill games and the early Resident Evil as inspiration for this choice. And the love for Silent Hill is extremely evident in the choice to use Akira Yamaoka, historical composer of the Konami series, for a part of the game's soundtrack. One part because, to make the difference between the two worlds even more tangible, the music that we will hear in one and the other will be made by two different composers:on the one hand Yamaoka, on the other the Polish composer Arkadiusz Reikowski.

For now the information ends here: keep following us to learn more about The Medium!
