Microsoft releases Xbox One October Update: Here's What's New

Microsoft announced today that the release for all players of theOctober xbox update of Xbox Onehas been announced, which introduces a number of new features already tested by preview users in addition to some news so far unannounced. Here are the news you'll find in the update.

  • Parental controls for individual games and apps - If you use Xbox One parental controls to limit the time your children spend in front of the screen, you can now have more control by setting limits for individual games and apps, setting for example, 1 hour per day maximum on Fortnite and 2 hours on Netflix. In addition, the limits you set for one child will be valid globally on both Xbox and PC, without distinction, and the time consumed on one device will also decrease the time available on the other.
  • Notifications from the Preferences List:The notification of the games on sale has been added to its Preferences Listlist. Now whenever a game you have on the list is discounted, you will receive an alert on the Dashboard that will alert you of the offer.
  • Direct viewing on the Mixer page:If you find an interesting video on the Mixer main page, you can now watch it directly on that page without having to open the Mixer app to see it.
  • Improvements to the Recent Players list:The list of players recently met on Live has now been improved and made more reliable, allowing us to quickly connect with anyone we've met and allowing us to send them a add them to friends, or invite them into a group more easily.
  • Game Pass game tips:If you find a particularly interesting title in your Xbox Game Pass library, you can now recommend it to your contacts at the touch of a button, either by private message or in your activity feed, so to share the discovery with your friends.
  • Improvements to the update system: the game update system has been updated, so that you will now encounter much more rarely the message that a game is to be updated asking you to close it.
  • Events App– A new app that informs you of events happening in your favorite Xbox games, such as seasonal events and more.

As always, the update will be installed automatically if you have the console in immediate startup, or you can force it to be installed from the system settings.
