Microsoft revealed tonight the already rumked new Gamertag system, which will give us more freedom in choosing our online names on Xbox Live, on any device this is present. Microsoft first emphasizes that the current gamertags will not change, so you can keep it as it is today.

If you want to change it or create a new one, however, you now have another option: you can take an already occupied Gamertag, to which the system will have a random numeric tag, such as MajorNelson # 7284. In this case on the dashboard and all the interfaces, including games, the name "MajorNelson" will be highlighted, but also appear alongside "#7284" in small (some examples here). If instead you find a unique Gamertag and not taken by others, it will remain everything as today without the addition of numeric tags.

Another novelty is the support of alphabets from all over the world, so you can now start to see Gamertags in Cyrillic, Japanese, Thai and so on.
