Gears of War 4: first details on Escalation mode, ad spectator mode

As promised, The Coalition revealed tonight the first details on the new Escalation of Gears of War 4 , already announced in the past. It is an evolution of the Execution mode already seen in previous titles and inserts in match 5 vs 5 strongly influenced by the type of evolution that have the games in the genre MOBA.

Rod Fergusson and Jack Felling of The Coalition explained that the purpose of this mode is to allow players to develop increasingly complex strategies during the course of the match. In Escalation each map has three rings that teams must try to catch: before it manages to have all three for a few seconds, wins the round regardless of the score.

Each match starts with the exact same armaments for all, and without any powerful weapon on the map, but as the game progresses the team that loses a round may decide, before the next round, what weapons plant and to what location on the map: the primary weapons, namely those more powerful, can only go in the middle of the map, while the secondaries , support weapons, only at the sides. There are exceptions, such as the Longshot sniper rifle, which can be placed anywhere.

Another characteristic of this mode is that two-second respawn time increases each round: at the beginning it takes very little to get back in the game after being dead, but as the rounds accumulate the times will increase more and more making it increasingly penalizing deaths. Be killed will mean so leaving the camp unguarded for long precious seconds, giving the opposing team more chances to win the round.

Escalation will be a very tactical mode which will also be able to choose weapons to each defeat and predict the choices made by the opposing team in order to thus take more powerful weapons; avoid being killed will also be critical for victory in the match.

Besides that The Coalition also announced the introduction of the spectator mode, that will allow us to select different views and to quickly switch from one player to another without having to iterate over all. We leave you with a set of game images that show us both the arrangement of rings in Escalation mode than the spectator mode.
