Square-Enix announced that today will be extinguished forever the Xbox 360 version of its server MMORPG Final Fantasy XI , which will not be usable anymore. While the PC version will continue to be supported, the Xbox 360 version ends today its cycle after 10 years of life: the game was released on the console on April 21, 2006.

The closure of the server had to actually take place last year, but fans had insisted on an extension and Square agreed by keeping the servers open for another year. Now the time is up and close then its doors on one of the oldest MMOS appeared on the Xbox 360, as well as one of the most beloved.
