In the last few hours Microsoft has announced the release of an official Update to the Xbox controller One , accessible for the time being only to registered members to beta testing Xbox Preview Program and then to everyone else. The update should make several improvements to the overall stability of the pad (in particular concerning many issues reported by the community) and introduce the new feature Quick Connect , designed to allow for quick connection of the controller to the console within approximately 2 seconds after turning on the same (instead of about 5 seconds needed currently).

Below are instructions on how to proceed with the update:

• Connect the controller to the Xbox One through a compatible USB cable, leaving any headset connected if already present.
• Connect the console to Xbox Live.
• Press the Menu button
• Select Settings > devices and accessories . Select the controller.
• Click Update to start to download and apply the update automatically for the controller. The screen will display the message Update in progress .
• When shows updated Controller , press B to return to the devices and accessories .
• Reselect the controller and verify that the current version of its Firmware is as follows: 1.2.2236.0
