Microsoft: reaching native 1080 p on Xbox One will always be easier for developers

In these first months of life of the Xbox One one of the most debated topics from fans is like, even if the console out always in standard 1080 p resolution, some games use the technique of rendering at resolutions below, then upscalate internally to 1080 p, to get better performance. The problem has emerged mainly in some third-party titles, but I'm not exclusive free such as Titanfall or launch game Dead Rising 3 .

Talking with official Xbox magazine UK, the Xbox Development Director One Boyd Multerer explained that such cases are largely due to the problems encountered by developers in adapting their engine to handle the ESRAM-console support area much faster than the standard RAM but small, that to be exploited efficiently requires constant work of data exchange with main memory.

Multerer explained that for the console launch titles developers have not had time to optimize the use of hardware and of ESRAM specifically, but that over time the various engine-like Frostbyte, the Cryengine, Unreal Engine and so on-will be updated in order to take full advantage of ESRAM and the rest of the hardware: when this happens, all games which will exploit these engine will benefit by an improvement in performance and for developers will be easier achieve 1080 p without major compromises. Multerer explains that once developers begin to exploit effectively the unique architecture of the console, you will see improvements of performance quite apparent.

There remains, therefore, that wait to discover if future titles will introduce similar improvements: E3 in June will probably be a good showcase to assume an idea.
