Rainbow Six Tactics announced at ONL 2026

Among the announcements of Opening Night Live 2026 there was one that few expected: Ubisoft unveiled Rainbow Six Tactics, a single-player turn-based tactical game set in the Rainbow Six universe. So no competitive shooter, no seasons and no ranked, but a turn-based structure that openly looks to the side of XCOM-style strategy, while maintaining the DNA of the series.

Developed by Ubisoft Paris, themost interesting novelty of the game on a narrative level is that here we will not control an operator, but his commander: for the first time in the saga we will be Six, in charge of the Rainbow unit. The story is set in parallel to the timeline of Rainbow Six Siege, with a new global threat that forces Team Rainbow to move on a much larger scale than usual.

The game cycle therefore alternates between two phases. From the headquarters we will analyze the intelligence information, choose the missions, assign the most suitable operators and improve the base of operations; on the field, however, we move on to real turn-based clashes, where skills, gadgets, reconnaissance tools and destructible environments count. Once the mission is over, we return to the base to train the team, examine the new data and strengthen Rainbow's capabilities in view of the next operation.

The roster draws directly from Siege and has 15 operators, from which we can compose teams of four elements tailored to our style of play. Each brings with it unique abilities, specialized gadgets and its own skill tree, which should encourage a lot of experimentation in compositions.

The campaign promises dozens of missions scattered around the world, including rescuing hostages, defusing bombs and eliminating targets. And environmental destruction, of course, remains central: you can tear down walls to open new lines of sight, take away cover from enemies or create alternative entry routes as the situation evolves.

The Breach, the most interesting tactical moment among those described, is grafted onto this principle: a synchronized assault that interrupts the normal order of turns and allows all operators to act at the same time, breaking into a new area and taking the enemy by surprise. A clever way to translate that feeling of coordinated break-in that is the trademark of the series into turns.

While we wait for further details and a launch window, we leave you with the announcement trailer and a set of images.
