Crimson Desert: New gameplay and details from Pearl Abyss

On the occasion of the New Game + Showcase, Pearl Abyss returned to show the highly anticipated Crimson Desert, offering us new food for thought on what promises to be one of the most technically ambitious titles of the coming months, arriving on March 19th.

One of the most impressive aspects that emerged concerns the extension of the game world. The developers have avoided getting lost in mere numerical data, but emphasizing how the scale of the project is immense: the map will in fact be at least twice the size of the playable area of Skyrim and will exceed in size even that of Red Dead Redemption 2. However, it will not be an empty world, since the team's goal is to create a highly interactive environment where we can be constantly distracted by new activities, side quests and secrets to discover.

The exploration will lead us not only to travel vast expanses of land, but also to reach the so-called "celestial islands" through the Aerial Abyss. These suspended places represent a fundamental part of the plot and mythology of the game world, where we will be called upon to solve different riddles and environmental puzzles to obtain unique treasures and rewards. Interactivity will also pass through more everyday and managerial elements: we will in fact be able to own a house and interact with local wildlife (such as collecting small animals to update our codex) or devote ourselves to collecting resources for a deep crafting system dedicated to equipment.

On the gameplay front, the presence of dragons has been confirmed. Although the developers have not yet wanted to clarify if it will actually be possible to kill them, we know that we will be able to face them in combat and even ride them to sail the skies. As for the structure of the game, the team has specified that we will not be faced with a classic RPG based on branching narrative choices or romance systems. Freedom will instead be linked to the progression of the character and the way we decide to live the experience: the guiding principle is to never force our hand on specific decisions, allowing us to build our adventure through the actions and activities we decide to undertake in the vast open world.

We leave you to the video, enjoy!
