The Blood of Dawnwalker: the creative director shows us the gameplay
The developer explained that at the center of the experience will be us in the shoes of a Dawnwalker, an extremely rare figure in this universe, which is halfway between the human and the vampire race. This hybrid condition will not only be a narrative element, but the beating heart of the gameplay, directly influenced by the passage of time and the day-night cycle.
During the daytime hours, we will have to deal with all the frailties and typical needs of human beings, including the need to feed ourselves. However, at this stage we will be able to benefit from an advantage unique to the human race: the ability to use magic and cast spells. As the sun goes down, our nature will undergo a radical transformation. During the night, magical powers will become dormant to make room for the abilities and strength of vampires, but also bringing with them the typical difficulties related to bloodlust and disturbing sensory experiences.
Our path will cross with that of Brises, a powerful vampire lord who serves as the main antagonist. Brises will not be a passive enemy, but an adversary who will actively react to our actions in the valley. Through the use of vampiric blood and the manipulation of religious beliefs, Brises is trying to establish himself as the savior of the region, erecting statues and modifying the iconography in cathedrals to fuel a real cult of personality. As we sabotage his operations, we will gain notoriety, prompting him to issue specific edicts to hinder us. These measures will change the face of the open world, leading for example to an increase in patrols or even the total blockade of cities to prevent us from moving freely.
On the other hand, greater notoriety will allow us to improve relations with the factions that oppose the rule of Brises, opening up new strategic possibilities. The freedom of action will be total: we can decide to follow the various narrative strands proposed or ignore them altogether, focusing exclusively on strengthening our character to attempt a solitary assault on the castle. Every decision will involve real risks; for example, if we do not manage hunger properly during the night transformation, we could lose control and kill fundamental NPCs, causing some plots to be interrupted or drastically changed.
All of this will lead to different outcomes for the Veil Sangora region, ensuring a personalized experience based on our playstyle. Finally, the presence of romance options has been confirmed, which will allow us to forge deeper bonds with the characters we will meet along the way.
