Chinese studio Starry Studio announced today that Once Human, its post-apocalyptic open-world multiplayer survival game already released on PC and mobile, will arrive on Xbox Series X|S during 2026, maintaining the free-to-play format.

Once Human catapults us into a world devastated by a mysterious extraterrestrial substance called Stardust, which has infected all life. In this bleak scenario, we will take on the role of a "Meta-Human", an individual capable of harnessing the power of Stardust instead of being overwhelmed by it. Our goal will be to survive, fight the terrifying aberrations and discover the truth behind the apocalypse.

We will have to fight for our existence in PVE and PVP battles, in a vast open world map of 256 km², exploring varied environments ranging from frozen tundras to active volcanoes, from treacherous swamps to arid deserts. Survival will depend on our ability to hunt, farm, and build, but also to face monstrous creatures and other players. Cooperation will be key: by joining others we will be able to explore the unknown, share resources and plan strategies to gain the upper hand in battles.

In the game we can build our base anywhere on the map, customizing it with a patio, a kitchen, a garage and defending it with traps and lethal weapons. However, we will not be alone in this adventure: we will be able to rely on the "Deviation Pals", strange but powerful creatures that will support us. Among them we will find an alpaca armed with a gun, a small dragon-chef and other companions who will help us fight, collect resources and manage our territory.
