Rumor: Microsoft cancels Everwild, staff cuts in Rare

Today is a black day for Microsoft employees, with the Redmond giant cutting 4% of its workforce (about 9000 employees) in all areas, including Xbox. Among the impacted studios of which we are currently aware are Zenimax Media, King and Rare, which also seems to have suffered the cancellation of Everwild.

Both journalist Jason Schreier and the site Insider Gaming confirm that they have received the news from contacts inside Rare that the troubled and hyper-postponed title, which by now fans had begun to call Neverwild because it seemed it would never come out, has been canceled as a result of the recent layoffs.

Announced six years ago but in development for about ten, according to rumors Everwild has been the subject of multiple reboots because the studio did not seem satisfied with the direction taken. And, if the news is true, it seems that it is destined never to see the light of day. We await official confirmation.
