Spencer and Nadella hint at major surprises at the Xbox Games Showcase
A few hours ago Phil Spencer tweeted about the event:
I swore to keep it a secret... but not for much longer. Join us this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. PT for the #XboxShowcase, followed by an exclusive look at The Outer Worlds 2. We still have other surprises not to be missed.
This initially seemed like a simple message to fuel the anticipation, even if that "I swore to keep the secret" seemed a bit suspicious, but anyway we didn't give it much weight. A few hours later, however, Nadella retweeted the post commenting on it with the smiley emoji with the sewn mouth, giving a completely different weight to Spencer's original message.
If it is normal that the good Philip tries to fuel the anticipation for the event, the fact that the CEO of Microsoft himself intervenes, means that the "surprises not to be missed" that await us are certainly relevant and of strategic interest for the company.
What could it be? We doubt it's a hardware announcement because it might be too soon, but it's possible that Microsoft will start outlining its future hardware strategy, explaining the approach it will take as well without revealing specific hardware. Or could it be something else entirely: a major deal, such as the acquisition of a studio or the arrival of Game Pass on other platforms? The second is unlikely, but anything can be.
There is obviously also the possibility that hype is being created for something that is important, but not at the megaton level, such as the now highly anticipated arrival of the Game Pass Family Plan. At this point we just have to wait for tomorrow's event, which we remind you you can follow and comment with us on our Twitch channel!
