CDPR reveals its future: new games from The Witcher, new IP, sequels to Cyberpunk and more

CD Projekt RED has revealed today all the plans for the future of the studio and for the games and content that we will probably see over the next 10 years (and beyond), and from what emerged it cannot be said certain that the Polish studio does not sin of ambition!

The studio founded exactly 20 years ago by Marcin Iwiński and Michał Kiciński is in fact planning a large series of projects that will involve hundreds of developers and some external partners. Here they are listed below.

  • Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty - is the highly anticipated expansion to the story of Cyberpunk 2077, which currently involves 350+ developers and is in the final stage of production. We expect to see it later in 2023.
  • Project Sirius - a spin-off project set in the universe of The Witcher, which will tell "an unforgettable story". It is developed by The Molasses Flood with a team of 60+ developers. It is currently in pre-production.
  • Project Polaris - is the new RPG of The Witcher, developed in-house and currently in pre-production with 150+ developers involved (obviously destined to increase drastically once production starts). It is designed as the first game in a new trilogy, with the intention of releasing all three games within 6 years of the launch of the first. Given the production time of a similar project, it is likely that the first game will not arrive before 4 years, and then the third in about 10 years.
  • Project Canis Majoris - an additional single player open world RPG set in the world of The Witcher. Developed by an external studio made up of veterans of CD Projekt RED. No information about the status or development team, probably not yet started.
  • Project Orion - the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, whose task will be to demonstrate the full potential of the Cyberpunk universe. It will be developed in-house, but not yet started. We assume that pre-production will start once the development of the Phantom Liberty expansion is finished.
  • Project Hadar - new IP developed completely internally, so apparently not related to any existing literary or other universe. Currently being conceptualized by a small internal team.

To all this is obviously added the next-gen version of The Witcher 3, already confirmed to be released by the end of the year.

In short, it seems that the Polish study will be very busy for this and also the next generation: we can't wait to discover the fruits of these efforts!
