CoD: trailer and first details on multiplayer of Mordern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0

Activision and Infinity Ward today revealed call of Duty: Modern Warfare II multiplayer, due out October 28, and the new Warzone 2.0, expected on November 16. Both titles will be united by the same graphic engine and the presence of the Ricochet Anti-Cheat system, the advanced anti-cheat system that aims to keep the playing field as leveled and "clean" as possible.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II continues its path of innovation for the multiplayer sector by offering new maps, new gameplay and new mechanics, including the new Weapons system, a brand new water simulation system, vehicle gameplay, realistic animations and third-person playlists.

The free-to-play title, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, on the other hand, extends the Modern Warfare II universe thanks to the new Al Mazrah map, as well as innovations in the Battle Royale system, multiple circle closures and DMZ, a brand new sandbox experience that will arrive with Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 at launch.

Here is the main information on the two titles, followed by a trailer that gives us an overview of both.

Modern Warfare II

What's New in Multiplayer

  • Infinity Ward has continued the innovation work started in Modern Warfare 2019, in a new and memorable reimagining of the classic "boots-on-the-ground" gameplay, players will have to take into account the importance of stealth, amphibious assaults, vehicular warfare and much more.
  • Modern Warfare II and the new Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 experience will offer a new and innovative AI, which includes the positioning of teammates, enemy models, NPC and civilian movements, which react dynamically to your choices.
  • The new Gunsmith allows players to switch between weapons more smoothly than ever before, as well as offering unprecedented customization opportunities.
  • RICOCHET Anti-Cheat is built on a new unified security platform, which gives RIOCHET greater strength to protect fair play, and updates more frequently than ever with new features and mitigations to protect the game.
  • Special Ops is a revamped co-op experience for 2 players, allowing you to explore hot spots on a large scale with your teammate.
  • New gameplay features and new movement tactics include swimming and water combat, tactical sprinting, dolphin diving, grips and ledges for a real tactical advantage.
  • Dynamic new gameplay with new vehicles that include more destruction and more action-oriented maneuvers, such as leaning out of vehicle windows, climbing onto the roof of vehicles, destroying environments and more.
  • Third-person playlists offer different types of gameplay and a new tactical way to play multiplayer.
  • A completely new experience for the franchise, the Raids, which will arrive later this year after launch. The Raids will be 3v3 and will focus on communication and team coordination like never before.

Open Beta

  • The Modern Warfare II Beta will feature a solid multiplayer experience that will go beyond the core 6v6 experience, with a variety of meticulously designed maps of various sizes and an equally impressive array of modes, progression experiences, and other aspects.
  • The Modern Warfare II Open Beta will be free on all platforms, and players who have placed a digital pre-order, in-store, or have received a Beta code will have early access. The beta begins on September 16 on PlayStation and September 22 on Xbox and PC for those who have pre-ordered the game in digital format.
  • Large-scale land battle maps, up to 32v32, are placed within the worlds of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 as POI. During the first weekend of the beta, players will have access to:
  • Sarrif Bay, a map up to 32v32 set in the main port of call of the Republic, home to the country's valuable fishing activities and where there is a lot of action on land, at sea and in the air.
  • All classic 6v6 MP maps are customized, built exclusively for 6v6 game modes. During the first weekend of the beta, players will be able to try their hand at the following MP maps:
    • Valderas Museum is set in Spain, with very clean views, easy-to-read streets and modern architecture.
    • Farm 18 is a location classified similar to a polygon in the center of the map.
    • Mercado Las Almas is a small and lively market with fast paths and alleys that blend together and lead to pure and hectic fun.
  • In addition to the main fan-favorite modes, such as Team Deathmatch and Domination, the following three brand new modes are planned during the Open Beta:
    • Knockout is a very fast and very tactical 6v6 mode. Eliminate the opposing team or keep the pack to win. There are no respawns. Teammates can revive each other.
    • In Prisoner Rescue, each 6v6 team has a prisoner to protect, kept close to their spawn area. Locate the hostages and get them out alive or defend them at all costs. There are no respawns. Team resuscitations are enabled.
    • In Invasion, chaos increases in a large Deathmatch up to 32v32 set in very large maps. The goal is simple: eliminate or be eliminated, but the fights are challenging and combine player-controlled Operators and AI-controlled fighters.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0

  • Coming November 16, the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 represents a brand new Warzone experience, free to play and top of its class.
  • Building on the huge success of the original Warzone, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 will be a completely revamped experience and the most ambitious release in Call of Duty history.
  • Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 has a shared engine with Modern Warfare II, developed specifically for next-generation systems.
  • Warzone 2.0 takes place in the desert of a fictional region of West Asia called Al Mazrah.
  • For the first time, mobile players will be able to get into the warzone action wherever they want, even while on the go, thanks to Warzone Mobile, which will be available next year.
  • RICOCHET's server protections and kernel-level drivers will be available from day one, globally, for both Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0.
  • DMZ, a brand new sandbox experience will arrive with Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 at launch.
  • New features in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 on consoles and PCs include:
    • A brand new circle mechanic, with the appearance of multiple circles that change the scenarios in the end game
    • A new AI-controlled faction that brings the world of Al Mazrah to life with higher stakes and more realistic combat scenarios
    • Gulag 2.0, where players have to fight in 2v2, loot weapons and face "The Jailer", to have even more options and surprises
    • New social features for the community throughout the experience, with social connectivity again emphasized
