Analysis company: Postponing the launch of new consoles is highly likely

With the Coronavirus emergency impacting work and productivity around the world, and especially in China, the production of technology products has also suffered a severe blow and it is also fair to worry about the launch of the new consoles, including of course Xbox Series X.

The research and analysis company for the gaming industry DFC Intelligence has in fact issued the following statement:

"Coronavirus is likely to have a major short-term impact on the production of both next-generation [riferendosi ad Xbox Series X e PS5, ndt] systems. There's a strong chance that one or both systems won't make it for the 2020 launch. And if they do, stocks will probably be limited, with a higher-than-expected starting price.

The economy is currently experiencing unprecedented uncertainty. Even if the situation were to be resolved in a few weeks, the production and release capabilities of the new gaming systems has already been severely impacted."

According to DFC Intelligence, therefore, we could expect a delay in the launch of Xbox Series X and PS5 or, if the launch is confirmed, the quantities would be severely limited leading to price speculation. If this scenario comes true, there's also a need to understand what would happen to the titles expected at the launch of Xbox Series X,such as Halo Infinite and the others not yet announced: Since they will also be filming on Xbox One, will Microsoft still decide to release them at the end of the year, or will they also slip these releases? We hope to have reassurances, or certain confirmations of a slip-up, soon from Redmond's house.
