Microsoft: Xbox Series X will include hardware acceleration of audio

Already in this generation, thanks to support for Dolby Atmos and Windows Sonic, Xbox is the console with the best audio management on the market. And, according to the description of a presentation that Microsoft will hold at the Game Developers Conference in March, this will not change with Xbox Series X; on the contrary, these features that are now delivered via software will be enhanced thanks to a dedicated audio acceleration hardware.

The description says:

"Learn from Borderlands 3 and Gears 5 audio designers how the collaboration between Microsoft, Dolby and our middleware partners has initiated a spatial audio turn, which can turn any stereo headset into a multi-dimensional portal for another world. Participants will dive into the audio design stackline (Project Acoustics) and the relationship with hardware acceleration on the next generation of Xbox consoles."

This confirms that even Xbox Series X,after Sony had already announced this feature for its PS5, will have hardware dedicated to managing 3D immersive audio, or surround that you want. We look forward to more!
