Microsoft creates a drive to forge new alliances in Japan and Asian markets

In recent years we have seen Phil Spencer intent into true renewal of Xbox and all Microsoft Gaming Zone; from services, with initiatives like Play Anywhere , Game Pass and Project xCloud , hardware with Xbox One X until the creation of a solid group of internal teams with the many recent acquisitions and the creation of the study The Initiative ; What's missing now?

That question, many will undoubtedly " support from the Japanese team "; in fact, there are still many Japanese anime series, from Person to Yakuza to God Eater and many others, who have not yet come on Microsoft's console. Spencer has definitely made progress on this front making series like Kingdom Hearts III or numerous titles East of Bandai Namco, but there is still much to do.

It seems to me that this is just one of the future focus of the House of Redmond: Phil Spencer has instituted a new internal unit called Global Gaming & Development Partnership (GGPD) whose purpose is just developing the business related to gaming (Xbox , Game Pass, Mixer, xCloud) in Asian territories, from Japan to China and South Korea. Here it goes therefore beyond the famous "Japanese travel" by Spencer: the GGPD is a unit with offices in several Asian territories whose members will have the sole task of finding new opportunities for Xbox and other Microsoft gaming platforms.

Specifically, we discover from a recent job listing that one of the main sections of the unit will be the " 3rd party content portfolio team ," a team of people whose sole job is to make deals with developers and publishers of third parties to publish titles on console, PC and mobile with the aim to make Microsoft " the global leader in gaming ". In short, the goal of the team is to find more and more titles from Japanese manufacturers and other Asian markets that can arrive on Xbox and other Microsoft platforms.

We hope that these efforts will lead to a greater diversity and quality of the line-up of Xbox titles: we will find out in the coming years if all this has led to some interesting developments!
