In an interview with the site USGamer , the creative director at Team Ninja Tom Lee explained that the study has not forgotten the franchise of Ninja Gaiden , indeed this is the most important series they have and it would not make sense to call themselves Team Ninja if you'd stop to produce Ninja Gaiden .

Lee, however, has explained that the franchise needs to " remain in the shadows " for the time being, until the study fails to exhume it into a form able to honour the name: the director explains that the last episode of the series, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z , which introduced zombies, cel-shading and a new protagonist, was a total failure both commercially and creatively , and the developers want to now be sure create a new title in the series only when they are convinced that they can do well. A new Ninja Gaiden will go on, but only " at the right time ," says Lee.

Obviously we hope that this will happen as soon as possible and that the series manages to actually return to the glories of the past, when it was the master Tomonobu Itagaki to drive it. Fingers crossed!
