The final version of Elite: Dangerous arrive in October; shared universe between PC and Xbox

David Braben of Frontier Developments announced tonight that the Xbox One version of space Simulator Elite: Dangerous reaches the final version, so the program exiting Game Preview , on 6 October. Obviously those who have already purchased Game Preview will receive a free upgrade that will bring the game to the final version, but all ships and equipment obtained up to that point will be reset: in Exchange for these players will receive a reimbursement that will add up to credit already in their possession.

The charts should be kept, but not the discoveries of new planets; Game Preview players will receive a "special award" from developers.

Braben also revealed some interesting details about the Xbox One version of the title: the most important is what the universe will be shared with the PC version. This does not mean that PC gamers can play with Xbox ones, because the cross-play is not (yet) handled by the game, but that all events in the universe of the game, even those caused by players, will be the same on both platforms. So if a player Xbox One unleashes some event that create visible changes in the game universe, these will also be visible from PC gamers and vice versa. The developer then explained that the new "expansion season" Horizons "arrives on Xbox after the release on PC.
