Final Fantasy XIII has distributed more than 6 million copies

During E3, the producer of Final Fantasy Yoshinori Kitase, told the site that Final Fantasy XIII xbox360achievements.org has sold over six million copies worldwide. In 2009, the CEO of Square Enix, Yoichi Wada said that the company was expected to FF-XIII sold about six million copies around the globe and Kitase explained that the decision to proceed with a direct sequel was made precisely because the title has reached the predetermined goal.

Kitase also said that Final Fantasy XIII was released just over a year ago and since has got a great commercial success the company has decided not to wait a long time to make a completely new title in the series but to make a direct sequel with a ' output short distance than its predecessor.

In short, though Final Fantasy XIII has been heavily criticized, especially by the most avid fans of the series and especially by fans of the JRPG genre, it's still been able to get a very positive commercial success. Kitase argued that Final Fantasy XIII-2 was created with the criticism and feedback from players and that will be closer to the RPG elements of previous games in the series. At this point we just have to wait to find out if the sequel in question will replicate the commercial success of his predecessor and if he can even get a good response towards the fans.
