Among the many announcements of the Opening Night Live of gamescom there was also space for Capcom, which took advantage of the stage to finally show in action Mega Man: Dual Override, twelfth chapter of the classic Blue Bomber series, arriving in 2027. The video gives us an overview of the game, including new mechanics, new bosses and playable characters.

The most substantial novelty concerns the protagonists, because alongside Mega Man Proto Man is playable again: the wandering warrior brings with him skills of his own and will allow us to face the challenges with two clearly distinct styles of play, letting us decide from time to time how to approach situations.

To enliven the clashes there will then be the Override system that gives the title to the game, and which allows the protagonists to temporarily unleash a power higher than their normal abilities. The upgrade, however, is paid: once the effect is exhausted, we will experience a temporary drop in performance, so understanding exactly when to activate it and how to make the most of it will be a fundamental part of the game.

There is also room for customization, entrusted to a new chip system to be installed to add extra abilities to both Mega Man and Proto Man, so as to freely shape our style of play. We will be able to equip power-ups such as rapid fire, a protective bubble or hovering, experimenting with always different combinations in search of personal strategies.

Among the new opponents, the trailer showcases Twinkle Girl, one of the eight new Robot Masters, who presents herself with great energy by setting the battlefield on fire with dazzling fireworks-inspired attacks. As per tradition, we will be able to analyze and convert the skills of the defeated Robot Masters into powerful special weapons, which promise to be very effective and capable of guaranteeing us further tactical advantages. However, each use consumes energy, so they will have to be dosed carefully: in the video we see one at work, with a devastating charging attack that also acts as an aerial dash to gain mobility.

Finally, watch out for a detail that long-time fans will have already noticed: in the trailer a Robot Master peeps out who seems to be Astro Man, seen in Mega Man 8. Could this be the signal of the return of other classic Robot Masters? We now leave you to the trailer.
