Rumor: Will The Elder Scrolls VI be called Sentinel? A clue also from Starfield

In recent days, the XBOX community has lit up around a series of clues regarding the highly anticipated chapter of Bethesda's fantasy saga, The Elder Scrolls VI. It all started with a post by Asha Sharma, CEO of XBOX, who said she had attended a demonstration of the game, mentioning it as "The Elder Scrolls VI: ********", with the eight asterisks instead of the subtitle not yet revealed.

To make it even more evident was the official account of Bethesda, which replied to the message by reiterating the same sequence of eight censored characters. A calculated gesture that started a wave of speculation to understand which eight-letter word could be hiding behind that mysterious code.

Among the various hypotheses put forward by fans, one has taken on more and more weight until it has become the dominant theory at the moment: the game could be called The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. This name has deep roots in the tradition of the franchise, as Sentinel is the kingdom and capital of the Hammerfell region, a place that has long been referred to by rumors as the main setting of the new adventure. Since it is an iconic location already known to the public of the saga, the juxtaposition appears decidedly credible, especially considering the studio's habit of baptizing its titles with the name of the region or key place in which we will have to venture.

To strengthen this theory there are also other elements that have emerged from online discussions. In the past, it had emerged that the project was internally identified with the codename "Project Guardian", a detail that fits perfectly with the very meaning of the English term sentinel, or guard or sentinel. Adding further fuel to the fire was an intervention on Reddit by Michael Kirkbride, historic developer and author of unforgettable chapters such as The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, who responded with a peremptory "yes" to the hypothesis put forward by a user who suggested the word Sentinel. Although Kirkbride no longer works full-time with Bethesda, his proximity to the studio's environments has prompted many to consider this response as further confirmation.

The most surprising element of this story, however, comes from a clue that Bethesda may have hidden before our eyes for over two years, that is, since the launch of Starfield. Within the character creation screen of the space title, an employee identification number appears: 190514-2009140512. By dividing this numerical sequence into pairs of two digits (19, 05, 14, 20, 09, 14, 05 and 12) and converting each number into the corresponding letter of the English alphabet, the letters S, E, N, T, I, N, E, L are exactly obtained. This detail had already been discovered two years ago, but no one had thought of connecting it to The Elder Scrolls VI.

Considering that work on the new TES was already underway at the time of the release of the sci-fi title, the chances that such a combination is the result of pure chance are extremely low. All the pieces therefore seem to fit together, leaving us waiting to understand when Bethesda will decide to officially reveal what we already had under our eyes. We wait to know more about what seems to be called The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel!
