The Sinking City 2 opens pre-orders: prices and editions of the Lovecraftian horror revealed

Frogwares has officially kicked off the pre-order campaign for The Sinking City 2, the long-awaited Lovecraftian survival horror that will accompany us starting August 18th. Along with the opening of pre-orders, the studio has shared a new trailer full of unreleased gameplay sequences, taking the opportunity to reveal not only the bonus content of the various editions, but also a cost strategy that goes against the current market standards.

The adventure will catapult us into a dark and distorted vision of America in the 20s, precisely in the infamous city of Arkham. A supernatural flood has submerged the area, forcing all but the craziest inhabitants to flee and leaving the streets at the mercy of cosmic horrors and degradation. As occult adventurer Calvin Rafferty, we will have to face the disastrous consequences of a dream ritual gone wrong, which has left our partner Faye trapped in a mysterious sleep. To save it, we will have to navigate through the flooded neighborhoods on foot or by boat, carefully managing a limited inventory and looking for every useful resource. Along the way, we will clash with the Slithers, otherworldly creatures capable of possessing and manipulating corpses by transforming them into deadly puppets, all within a morally gray narrative in which we can also choose to delve into optional cases and solve puzzles to discover the darkest secrets of the lore.

One of the most interesting aspects announced by the developer concerns the price of the title. At a time when productions of this kind usually exceed sixty euros, the Standard edition has been set at 49.99 euros. As explained by Publishing Director Sergiy Oganesyan, this choice stems from the desire to be as fair as possible and allow a wide audience to explore the sunken city. Oganesyan called the launch of pre-orders a surreal milestone for such an ambitious project, developed remotely by a team distributed between Ukraine and the rest of the world. As a demonstration of the care taken in optimization, just two months after the release the studio even decided to migrate the entire technical sector to Unreal Engine 5.8, believing that the gains in terms of performance were essential for users.

For those who want to support the study right away, three different editions have been designed. In addition to the Standard from 49,99 euros, which includes the base game and the Chthonic Arsenal package with the 20s-style weapons "Shale Mary", "Breakwater" and "Tektite Tommy", we will find the Deluxe for 54,99 euros. This adds the Arkham Field Kit, which includes three costumes, Dream Essences to unlock starting talents, and a resource pack. At the top of the offer is the Premium at 59,99 euros, which guarantees 24-hour early access and the exclusive Holloway Manor expansion. The latter will lead us to investigate a villa with a dark occult past, structured like a Chinese box full of puzzles, at the end of which we will be able to keep the "Bucking Bronco" revolver even in the main adventure.

We leave you to the new trailer, enjoy!
