4A Games showed during the XBOX Games Showcase the gameplay of Metro 2039, in which we were able to appreciate the action and devastated settings of the game, as well as revealing that the game will arrive in February 2027.

In this new chapter we will find a subway radically transformed and subjugated by a new regime. At the head of this faction is Hunter, once a respected Ranger and legend of the now-destroyed Order of Sparta, who has now turned into a fanatical and ruthless leader. We will take on the role of the Stranger, a protagonist moved by a deep thirst for revenge against the one he calls a lying and hypocritical "Fuhrer". In the course of our mission we will realize how the old selfless defenders have become exactly the bitter enemy they once fought.

As for the game mechanics, the long footage confirms a return in style to close-quarters and claustrophobic stealth action. The inevitable survival elements will return and, during the adventure, we will have to incessantly explore both the lethal external surfaces and the underground meanders. To face enemy pitfalls we will be able to rely on new tools: the video allows us to glimpse a new lethal stealthy weapon, baptized "The Shatun", accompanied by new breaching charges perfect for opening a path as we enter the darkest and deepest heart of the subway.
