Star Trek: Shadow Frontier brings psychological horror/thriller to the Star Trek universe
At the center of the experience we will find ourselves in the role of former lieutenant Ro Laren, played by Michelle Forbes. Our mission will be to rescue an old friend, but things will get complicated after crashing into a distant world dominated by a strange and disturbing consciousness. We will have to face a journey of survival and self-discovery, entering a corrupted labyrinth where our memories will be distorted and the planet will threaten to sever our link with reality.
The hostile ecosystem will pose a constant threat, trying to absorb our consciousness and tormenting us with distressing visions. To survive this lethal environment, we will have to rely on the iconic technology of the series: we will use the Tricorder to scan and analyze objects, while the trusty Phaser will serve us to solve puzzles and defend ourselves from enemies. The creatures generated by the planetary entity will patrol the areas striking without warning, forcing us to choose whether to engage in desperate combat or try to outrun them.
The development of this project stems from the desire to merge the passion for science fiction with Bloober Team's experience in the horror genre. The team has been waiting a long time to unveil this title, aiming to create a unique adventure that respects the franchise's heritage while offering a profoundly different experience. The end result promises to be a mature and narrative-driven third-person action-adventure. The gameplay will balance exploration, puzzles, combat and cinematic sequences, rewarding our patience, observation skills and the most astute decisions. We will thus find ourselves pushing ourselves beyond the limits of known space and, above all, beyond the boundaries of sanity.
