Team17 and Swedish studio Wych Elm have announced that the 2.5D scrolling survival horror Silver Pines will be available starting October 8. This dark-hued title has been defined as a real love letter to the horror genre, combined with a style that is very reminiscent of David Lynch's surrealism.

During the adventure we will play the role of Red Walker, a private investigator who has arrived in the decadent American town of Silver Pines, a place that seems to have been abandoned in a hurry. Immediately after our arrival we will receive a cryptic phone call with a single indication: "Find Eddie Velvet". This event will mark the beginning of our descent into a nightmare, during which we will meet a series of strange and suspicious inhabitants. We will have to interact with them to try to unravel the mysteries they jealously hide from strangers.

The core of the experience will revolve around a labyrinthine and disorienting metroidvania-style exploration, all framed from a 2.5D perspective. We'll move between hidden paths and locked doors, solving puzzles to open the way and progress in the investigation. In doing so, we will be constantly threatened by the horrors that lurk in the darkness: it will be up to us to decide whether to face them openly in visceral clashes or whether to try to circumvent them to survive.

In this context, careful management of resources will prove to be fundamental. The limited space in our inventory will force us to explore the environments thoroughly, as every single bullet, medicine or upgrade found could make the difference between life and death. To further embellish this distressing research there will finally be a dreamlike and surreal aesthetic sector, characterized by hand-painted animations and a marked neo-noir-inspired artistic direction.
